Water+Yoga is here to create a culture of inspiration, empowerment and adventure. They believe in the healing powers and properties of water + yoga. They are motivated by health, wellness and a sense of togetherness. They choose alignment over the hustle. While introspection is a large part of Water+Yoga, just as important is the permission to have fun and be free; in your yoga practice, on the water… and in your life.
SUP Yoga
Every stand up paddle board yoga class with Water+Yoga is a truly unique experience shared by the students, shaped by the direction of the wind, the temperature of the air, the pull of the tide, the phase of the moon, and the angle of the sun. Stand up paddle yoga with Water+Yoga will open your practice up to every environmental condition. It forces you to make space for that second-by-second variability. Classes will flow through many of the same poses practiced in a yoga studio, but led at a much slower pace.
When:
Classes are held from the end of June through early September on Sunday mornings at 8am. Water+Yoga also holds a few evening sunset classes for the monthly full moons. Private classes are an option too and can be scheduled any day of the week. All classes are 90 minutes.
Price: Cost is $40 per person and includes the board, leash and anchor system to hold the board in place during class. Beginners and first time students either to yoga or a paddle board are welcome! About 70% of our participants are returning students! Students can bring their own board to class for a discounted rate.
What To Bring: Wear a bathing suit or yoga clothes suitable for the water. Do not wear sunglasses; most sink. Don’t forget a towel!
Why Sup Yoga?
Every class is unique because the conditions are never the same, and there's always an important lesson in every class; letting go of control.... after accepting the things out of one's control, like the weather, conditions, or movement of the board, you can instead be present to what's happening in the moment.
What Makes Sup Yoga Different? The Sup Yoga class location is unique because it has beach entry (not off a dock). Bill teaches guests while he is standing in the water instead of being on a board. If someone falls off, they can stand. This isn't the case for most SUP yoga locations, and we think it's a differentiator because it gives people that extra comfort level to know they can touch the sand with their feet.
What if I fall? Falling is is part of the fun! Once you let go of the fear of falling (or actually fall in), you can shake off the fear and embrace the experience.
What if I am not great at yoga but want to try? This is not a fast paced class. Bill takes time teaching the pose transitions.
Meet The Owners:
Ashley & Bill founded Water+Yoga Together.
"I've been teaching SUP yoga for 6 years and personally I've been SUP surfing for 10 years and traditional surfing for 25 so I know the water and board intimately. I'm also a Blue Mind ambassador which is the science that shows how being near, in or on water can make you happier and healthier." - Bill
.yawA Tip:
Bill takes photos from his GoPro all of which are complimentary. Classes do sell out so a reservation is required in advance through email via our website or a DM via Water+Yoga's social media account.
