Tracey and her family live in a gorgeous converted thatched Farmhouse Kitchen that is located on the shores of Strangford Lough in County Down, just 30 minutes from Belfast. It is truly a place of outstanding beauty. Right in the warmth of her kitchen, enjoy a private traditional Irish bread making class.
Enter to the aroma of fresh homemade buttermilk soda bannock. Tracey serves some bread fresh from the oven with a cuppa to help guests ease in and get the run down for the baking session. Then it is time to grab your apron!
Once you dressed, you will head over to your cooking stations and get ready to embark on learning adventure of how to bake a variety of traditional soda breads, wheaten, and potato breads. There are griddles ready to make these breads set up with a bowl, flour, buttermilk, and some wooden spoons. No perfect measurements, no rigid rules. Tracey encourages participants to get excited making these breads by hand in the traditional, rustic way.
If the experience was not already amazing enough, all the breads are ready to eat within 15 minutes of making them so you can munch and learn!
In addition to enjoying the breads you have made, Tracey also does a quick overview of how to make some delicious soda focaccia bread. She serves that with a selection of some other sweet treats. The entire experience is just pure fun and we highly recommend adding it to your trip.
