Tracey's Farmhouse Kitchen

Tracey and her family live in a gorgeous converted thatched Farmhouse Kitchen that is located on the shores of Strangford Lough in County Down, just 30 minutes from Belfast. It is truly a place of outstanding beauty. Right in the warmth of her kitchen, enjoy a private traditional Irish bread making class.

Enter to the aroma of fresh homemade buttermilk soda bannock. Tracey serves some bread fresh from the oven with a cuppa to help guests ease in and get the run down for the baking session. Then it is time to grab your apron!

Once you dressed, you will head over to your cooking stations and get ready to embark on learning adventure of how to bake a variety of traditional soda breads, wheaten, and potato breads. There are griddles ready to make these breads set up with a bowl, flour, buttermilk, and some wooden spoons. No perfect measurements, no rigid rules. Tracey encourages participants to get excited making these breads by hand in the traditional, rustic way.

If the experience was not already amazing enough, all the breads are ready to eat within 15 minutes of making them so you can munch and learn!

In addition to enjoying the breads you have made, Tracey also does a quick overview of how to make some delicious soda focaccia bread. She serves that with a selection of some other sweet treats. The entire experience is just pure fun and we highly recommend adding it to your trip.

What’s included:

  • On arrival morning / afternoon tea and coffee with homemade treats.

  • Learn to make three traditional Irish breads on the griddle

  • After breadmaking is complete, relax in our cosy thatched cottage or al fresco in the gardens.

  • Fresh serving of coffee / tea and taste freshly made breads, with homemade jams and hand rolled local butters.

  • Take home plenty of freshly made breads along with a copy of all recipes used in the experience

Tracey’s Farmhouse Kitchen also offers an afternoon tea experience and various ways to explore the shore with stand up paddle boarding.

Whether you’re looking to taste the tradition of Ireland, explore the gorgeous shore or both, an experience that starts at Tracey’s Farmhouse Kitchen, begins the best way; with warmth, comfort and the kind of welcome that you only get in a real Irish kitchen.
